Hi.  I'm a liberal democrat in the F.D.R. mold.
Here is more about me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't written about politics since the Bush years  ~2007.
I will do so now.

The Republican Party has been racist for over 50 years.
Donald Trump is another Republican racist who's now president.
The Republican Party is destroying the planet and our country.

On this, I'm in complete agreement with Noam Chomsky:
The Republican Party is the most dangerous party in the world.

It is not just their desire to destroy the planet for reasons of greed.
Since Reconstruction, they've been first and foremost, pro business.
After 1912, the Party underwent an ideological shift to the right.

When the Democratic Party passed civil rights, Republicans embraced the Southern Strategy of racism to gain and hold onto their power.

Republican talking points and policies for 50 years
racism sexism misogyny anti-LGBTQ
pro-war
anti-immigrant
pro tobacco
anti-electric car

Lee Atwater had discussed the origin and thinking behind the Southern Strategy in a 1981 interview with a political scientist. It surfaced in an audio recording obtained by The Nation magazine in 2012. In it he said:

You start out in 1954 by saying, "Nigger, nigger, nigger." By 1968 you can't say "nigger" — that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states' rights, and all that stuff, and you're getting so abstract. Now, you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites. … "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "Nigger, nigger."

Before he died in 1991, Atwater apologized for the tactics he used, noting that while he didn't invent negative politics he was "one of its most ardent practitioners."
But even that appears to be suspect. From Wikipedia:

Ed Rollins, however, stated in the 2008 documentary Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story, that "[Atwater] was telling this story about how a Living Bible was what was giving him faith and I said to Mary [Matalin], 'I really, sincerely hope that he found peace.' She said, 'Ed, when we were cleaning up his things afterwards, the Bible was still wrapped in the cellophane and had never been taken out of the package', which just told you everything there was. He was spinning right to the end."[15]

Atwater set the stage for today with people like Gingrich and Manafort.
The Republicans cannot be trusted with anything and must be defeated.

Some basic purposes of our government as stated in the Constitution are to promote the general welfare. The Declaration of Independence follows the same logic, saying we are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.. I wholeheartedly agree.

Republicans: John McCain said "our economy is strong" during the bank failure crisis. We, the citizens, saved the world's economy bailing out the billionaires who created it and they lost nothing. They should have gone to jail for the economic crisis they created.

The Treaty of Tripoli
A Peace treaty between the US and Tripoli of Barbari
Unanimously approved by the Senate on June 7, 1797 and subsequently signed by President John Adams.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Disturbing quotes from the Bush Family

George H.W. Bush Sr. on atheism:
Question: "Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?"
Bush Sr:.
"No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

Bush Family Values
Barbara Bush:
"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths," Barbara Bush said on ABC's "Good Morning America" on March 18, 2003. "Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

George W. Bush:
Bush won't meet with Cindy Sheehan and other protesters.
``...I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life.''

A balanced life would be to listen to these protesters for once.

Private Security Shooting at Iraqi Civilians
The Telegraph reported in November of 2005 about this "trophy" video that seems to show war crimes. It appears to show private security guards in Baghdad randomly shooting Iraqi civilians. The video first appeared on a website that has been linked unofficially to Aegis Defence Services who were under contract to the U.S.

March 2004 - Bush Jokes - Soldiers Die
He jokes about not finding WMD's
in Iraq
That year thru March, 118 soldiers died

Bush jokes about not being able to find WMD's in Iraq (March 2004) as reported by The Guardian. He did this at the Annual dinner of the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association. At the end of his presentation he used images of American soldiers to support his murderous war. He should be in jail for his lies that took us to war and killed thousands.
